Bucks Arts & Cultural Council Member Art Show to Feature Local, Regional Artists

The Arts and Cultural Council of Bucks County slates the opening of The A&C Member Art Show 2024 at Freeman Hall, 181 E. Court St., Doylestown on Saturday, June 8.

There will be a reception and awards presentation from 1-4 p.m, Saturday, June 22.

The exhibition will feature 2D and 3D artworks submitted by A&C members representing diverse medias in painting, drawing, photography, fibers, sculpture, collage and more. Artists who are not currently members of A&C are invited to join and to submit their artworks.

For the A&C Member Art Show 2024, members are encouraged to enter works created in the last year that have never been submitted to A&C nor shown in any local gallery or exhibition. Artists will have the opportunity to submit their works online between May 14 and 28. Visitors will have the chance to view and collect these new original works by local and regional artists.

During the opening weekend on June 8 and 9, there will be plein air artists working on the grounds of Freeman Hall and an informal Artist Talk and conversation from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Subsequent gallery hours include June 15, 16, 22 and 23 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Selected by juror Lisa Tremper Hanover, former director and CEO of The Michener Art Museum, awards will be presented on June 22 for first, second, third, two honorable mentions, a People's Choice Award, and the inaugural Materese Roche Memorial Award. The first place award of $500 is sponsored by Phoenix Art Supplies and Framing, and the People's Choice Award of $200 is sponsored by ArtWRKD, an artist collective in Newtown.

Roche was a beloved Bucks County artist who died Aug. 14, 2023. She is best known as an atmospheric landscape painter who exhibited her works locally and regionally throughout New England. She was also an exceptional teacher, sharing her love of painting with loyal students and collectors, including many members of the Arts and Cultural Council of Bucks County.
