Painting Panels (MDF)
Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) Panels are a great option for artists who desire a solid painting surface and control over paintable texture. MDF panels can be used for oil or acrylic painting, encaustic art or mixed media creations... just to name a few. In many cases, artists prime the surface with Gesso so the the chosen medium does not absorb into the board. And once primed, the Gesso can be left rough, for a unique texture, or sanded to a completely smooth surface. (See a video of one artists preparation process below.)
MDF Panels by Art Alternatives are 3/16" thick, smooth and ready fro gesso. And each panel features a two slotted hooks on the back, so they are ready to hang.
Commonly in stock are standard sizes, but we ofthe carry the odd square shape too, so just ask! Standard sizes usually available are:
- 5" x 7"
- 8" x 10"
- 9" x 12"
- 11" x 14"
- 16" x 20"
