Watercolor paints are a combination of a pigment and a binding medium (most commonly gum arabic). With their low opacity (meaning: transparent) and vibrant colors they can appear to be luminescent at times. Available in pans and tubes, watercolor paints are great for plein air painting and can be easily packed-up for the artist on-the-go. They are also easy to clean up store.
Used mostly and traditionally by landscape and sketch artists, watercolor paints have broken out and are being adopted by modern artists. See what they are doing?(Link)
