Strong colors often call to be complemented likewise. For this custom picture framing project, a strong blue frame was used to bring out the colors in the oil painting.

Mat boards and glass are not commonly used for oil paintings, but in this case a little "outside the box" thinking was called for and a white mat board was chosen to create a contrast between the blues and allow the painting to live on its own. To allow for the depth of the painting, it was mounted on the back mat and a shadowbox effect was created.
